Chasteen Creek Trail

Seeing this by my door, is a sure sign it's time to meet up with the girls in my Hiking Club.  Last week we headed up into the Great Smoky Mountains and hiked a beautiful trail near the Smokemont Campground.
We hiked on the Chasteen Creek Trail and on sections of the Bradley Fork Trail.  The water was flowing swiftly as we had several days of rain earlier in the week.  But on this day, we were blessed with sunny, blue skies.  It was cold, but I'm learning how to dress for winter hiking (lots of layers), so it's not bad.

I see a waterfall.  Let's go!

Another little fall.  The water was really flowing today.
I sat on a rock and had lunch by this stream.  Can you see the icicles?

Hiking Club selfie.  What a fun group of ladies!
We walked up to this church on our way out, and then stopped by the visitors center before returning to Asheville.  There were twenty-one elk grazing in the fields by the center.
Checking our fitbits/pedometers, we discovered we had hiked about eight miles in the Great Smoky Mountains today.  What a treat.    Another wonderful day of hiking.

* Take the Time Goal #16 - Participate in as many Friday hikes as possible.
